KARACHI: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Friday asserted Quaid Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain is unaware of MQM Coordination Committee (Rabita Committee)’s statement demanding deployment of army, rangers and other intelligence agencies for maintenance of law and order situation in metropolis city Karachi, Geo news reported.Meanwhile, MQM leader Qasim Ali, confirming Malik’s stance, said Altaf Hussain has not been updated over committee’s statement as all decisions are taken by Coordination Committee and subsequently, seeks Quaid’s endorsement
This leaders of two different parties told Geo news. “I have had telephonic conversation with MQM Quaid and he denied to be aware of such statement.” said Malik, adding, “Rangers have already been deployed in certain parts in Karachi to deal any untoward situation.”
Earlier, Rehman Malik declared that the current spate of killings in the city was the handiwork of those who wanted to undermine the PPP-MQM coalition in Sindh and also wished to destabilise Pakistan.
He said no political party was involved in the target killings. The minister asked illegal immigrants to get their names registered with authorities or leave the country within 30 days, adding that strict action would be taken against all immigrants who did not obey the order.
