President Zardari meets Syrian counterpart in Damascus DAMASCUS: President Asif Ali Zardari arrived in Syria on Friday for a two-day official visit.

During talks Zardari and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad discussed their nations' bilateral relations and regional and international developments.

Pakistani sources said that on the agenda of the talks was the preparations for the regional conference on Afghanistan that is expected to be held in Turkey by the end of January 2010.

The last visit to Syria by a Pakistani president was three years ago when former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf visited
