Power shortfall reaches to 4,000 MW as dams halt water discharge LAHORE: The generation of electricity further dropped down after complete shut down of water discharge from Mangla and Tarbela.

Meanwhile, the power shortfall in the country has reached to 4,000 MW with the extension in load shedding duration to 17 hours from 9 hours. The current demand of electricity is 11500 MW whereas as power generation reduced to 7500 MW from 8, 000 MW which deepens the power crisis.

The unannounced load shedding badly affecting industrial sector alongwith domestic consumers. PEPCO officials said the crisis enhanced after closure of dams by IRSA and the situation could be improve after resumption of water discharge. The consumers demanded PEPCO to divide shortfall equally among the four provinces and VVIPs feeders to end load shedding.
